Burkina Faso is a country in west Africa with 15 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Benin, Togo and Ghana. The republic belongs to the Sahel countries. In the north lies the Sahel Strip, just south of the Sahara desert. Burkina Faso also comprises low-lying plateaus, with rocky or sandy soils. In the south, the cliff of Banfora, the peaks of Sindou, Tengrela of the lake and waterfall Karfiguela. The capital Ouagadougou has over 1 million inhabitants. Places are the biennial Fespaco film festival, the music museum, theaters, the Musée Manega and the palace of the Mossi king, Moogho Naaba. Other major cities are musical center Bobo-Dioulasso, Koudougou, Ouahigouya, Banfora, Boromo, Kombissiri, Nouna and Solenzo. Other attractions in the country are the ruins of Loropeni, the reserves Nazinga and Arli-Singou, the mud mosques of Bani and the Grande Marche in Bobo Dioulasso.
