Cameroon is a country in west Africa with 18 ½ million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Nigeria, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The republic has a coastline along the Atlantic ocean in the southwest. In the north lie vast savannahs and Lake Chad. In the middle are the areas with dense rainforests. Mountains and mountain plateaus lie west. The coastal plain is marshy and the coast consists of beautiful sandy beaches. There is a tropical climate. The capital Yaounde has 1.7 million inhabitants. Attractions are the museum of the black arts, the artistic center and the museum of art from Cameroon. Other major cities are the economic capital Douala, Bafoussam, Bamenda, Bertoua, Bokito, Buea, Douala, Ebolowa, Garoua, Limbe, Maroua, and Yaoundé Ngaoundéré. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO, the game reserve DJA. Other attractions include the many national parks, wild life, the gorilla park Memgame, the waterfalls of Lobe and Menchum, the rock formations of Rhumsiki and Kapsiki, the palace Fon, the MAPE lake, the mountains and the pygmies.
