Travel information on Gambia
Gambia is a country located on the west coast of Africa with 1.7 million inhabitants. The republic is completely enclosed by Senegal and has a short coastline with the Atlantic Ocean. Gambia is divided by the River Gambia. North of the river is mainly savanna landscape. South of the Gambia is grassland with more afforestation. The delta of the Gambia has swampy. There are mangrove afforestation. Along the coast are sandy beaches. There is a subtropical climate with a dry and wet season. The capital Banjul has 35,000 inhabitants. Sights are the national museum, the war memorial for King George VI, the Albert Market and Arch 22. Other cities are Serrekunda, Kerewan, Brikama, Gunjur, Farafenni, Georgetown and Basse Santa Su. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO are the stone circles of Senegambia and the assemblage of slaves, James Island. Other attractions are the Kachikally Crocodile Pool, Abuko Nature Reserve, the birth place of Kunta Kinteh: Juffureh, Albreda and the Kiang West National Park.
