Ghana is a monarchy in West Africa with 23 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo. In the south, the country has a coastline along the Gulf of Guinea. Ghana is predominantly plains. In the north is savannah landscape. Central and Southern is a plateau with pieces of rainforest. The coast consists of sandy beaches with palm trees. The Volta Lake is located in the east. This largest lake in the world is fed by the White Volta, Black Volta and Oti. There is a tropical climate. The capital Accra consists of 1.7 million inhabitants. Sights include the Christiansborg Castle (OSU), the national museum, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and the square for independence with the triumphal arch. Other cities are Tema, Koforidua, Wa, Cape Coast, Ho, Sekondi-Takoradi, Sunyani, Kumasi, Tamale, Bolgatanga and Asamankese. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO, the Asante traditional buildings and the slave forts and castles in Greater Accra, Volta and Central and Western regions. Other attractions include the Prempeh II Jubilee museum, the six caves of the Likpe in Hohoe, 20 wildlife parks and nature reserves, the Manhyia Palace Museum and the market Kejetia.
