Guinea-Bissau lies on the west coast of Africa and has 1 ½ million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Senegal and Guinea. The republic has a coastline with the Atlantic Ocean. The coastal plain is very irregular in estuaries and river valleys. Central are tropical rainforests and savanna areas and southeastern many hills and mountains. There is a humid tropical savanna climate. The capital Bissau has 355,000 inhabitants. Places are the artistic youth center, the fort Amura and the mausoleum of Amilcar Cabral. Other cities are Bafatá, Quinhámel, Cacheu, Gabû, and Farim Catió. Other attractions are coastal city Cacheu, the Bijagós islands and the natural park Cantanhez.
