Ivory Coast is a country in west Africa with 18 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana. The republic with a coastline of the Gulf of Guinea. Humid savannas define the landscape in the north. Centrally located forest savannas, and tropical rain forests. In the south is an area of tropical rainforest and close to the coast lagoons. West lies the Nimba mountains. There is a tropical climate. The capital Yamoussoukro has more than 200,000 inhabitants. Sightseeing, the Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix and the palace of former president Félix Houphouët-Boigny. The largest city Abidjan has 2.8 million inhabitants. Other major cities include Man, San Pedro, Daloa, Bouake and Korhogo. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO are the Mount Nimba Nature Reserve and the national parks of Taï and Comoe.
