Madagascar

Madagascar is an island on the east coast with 20 million inhabitants. The republic is located between the Strait of Mozambique and the Indian Ocean. Central, the red high plains, steppe areas and rock formations. Around a large variety of landscapes: alluvial plains and sedimentary plains, desert and steppe areas, volcanic mountains with lots of afforestation, swampy areas, lagoons, tropical rainforest and narrow coastal strip. There is a tropical climate. The rainfall varies greatly by region. The capital Antananarivo has 1 ½ million inhabitants. Sights include the Palais de la Reine, the zoo, the Musée dAcademie Malgache, the street markets and the national park. Other cities include Antsirabe, Antsiranana, Fianarantsoa, Toamasina and Tôlanaro. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO are the nature reserve Tsingy de Bemaraha, the royal hill of Ambohimanga and the rainforests of the Atsinanana. Other attractions include the unique flora, nature reserves, the islands of Ile Aux Nattes and Sainte Marie, the king palaces, the pirate cemetery in Ambodifotatra, Antsirabe and the wine region around Fianarantsoa.
