Nigeria is a country in west Africa with 140 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Benin, Niger, Chad and Cameroon. The Federal Republic has a southern coastline with the Gulf of Benin and the Gulf of Bonny (both part of the Gulf of Guinea). Nigeria has a varied landscape. In the north there are high plains and plateaus with grass steppes and savannas. Eastern areas are mountainous and hills. On the coast are the lagoons, estuaries, the Niger delta and mangrove forests. Hills and tropical rainforest is something more to inland sites. There is a tropical climate. The capital Abuja has 500,000 inhabitants. Places are Aso Rock and Zumo Rock and the Three Arms Zone: the parliament building, the Supreme Court and the presidential villa. Other cities are former capital Lagos, Benin City, Enugu, Gusau, Ibadan, Kano, Owerri, Oyo State, Port Harcourt, Warri and Calabar. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO are the cultural landscape of Sükür and the holy forest of Osun Osogbo. Other attractions are the cities of Kaduna and Oshogbo, the beaches and national parks of Yankari, Cross River and Okomo.
