Travel information on Uganda
Uganda is a country in east Africa with 31.4 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Tanzania, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and Kenya. The most notable is Lake Victoria in the south. Uganda is located on the East African plateau and consists mainly of plateaus, mountains, volcanic hills, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, wetlands and rainforest. There is a tropical climate. The capital Kampala has 1.2 million inhabitants. Sights include the art gallery Tulifanya, the Kabakas Lake, the Namirembe Cathedral and the Bahia temple. Other cities are Arua, Busia, Entebbe, Fort Portal, Jinja, Kisoro, Lira, Mbale, Mbarara, Moroto and Soroti. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO are the tombs of the kings of Bow Anda in Kasubi and the national parks of Bwindi Impenetrable and Rwenzori Mountains. Other attractions are the flora and fauna, the Mgahinga Gorilla Park, the island Bukasa, the Rwenzori Mountains, the crater lakes and Fort Portal.
