Congo-Brazzaville is officially called the Republic of Congo. It is a country in Central Africa and it borders the countries of Central African Republic, Gabon, Cameroon, Angola and Congo-Kinshasa. Congo is a former French colony and gained full independence in 1960. The largest cities are: Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire and Loubomo. 42% of the inhabitants of Congo live below the poverty line. The economy is partly dependent on oil extraction and on diamond mines. Congo is known for some old tribes. These tribes still live according to ancient traditions. An extensive flora and fauna can be found in Congo. Animals that live in the wild in Congo are: elephants, crocodiles, giraffes, monkeys, hyenas and rhinos. A visit to Nouabalé Ndoki National Park and Odzala National Park are highly recommended.
