Djibouti is a country in east Africa with 506,000 inhabitants. It is located on the horn of Africa. Neighboring countries are Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea. The republic borders the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. The landscape is largely determined by the volcanic desert plateaus. To the east are narrow coastal plains and a coastline with many white sandy beaches, mostly around the Gulf of Tadjoura. There are mountains in the north. Furthermore, some oases and saltwater basins. Lake Assal is the lowest point in Africa. There is a desert climate. Capital Djibouti has 400,000 inhabitants. The port city has old colonial and modern Arabic architecture. Sights are the harbor, the markets and beaches. Other cities are Khor Angar, Obock, the white city of Tadjoura, mountain village of Ali'Sabieh, Dikhil, Yoboki and Bolho. Sights include the underwater world of the adjacent seas, the vast desert, the national park, the islands of Moucha and Maskali, the Goda Mountains, the rock drawings at Obock, the group of seven brothers and the lakes of Abbe, Assal and Ghoubet.
