Kenya is a country in east Africa with 38 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Tanzania, Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia. To the west lies Lake Victoria and to the east the Indian Ocean. The landscape in Kenya is very diverse. There are hilly landscapes and high plains, savannah landscapes, mountain landscapes, deserts and the highest mountain in Africa, the Kilimanjaro. Furthermore, paradisiacal beaches, coral reefs and a number of islands. The fertile East African Slenk runs from north to south with many lakes and rivers. There is a tropical climate. The capital Nairobi has 3 million inhabitants. Sights are the national museum, the Jain temple and Snake Park. Other important cities are Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Ruiru, Machakos, Newru, Nyeri and Kitale. The Unesco World Heritage Site lists the National Parks of Mount Kenya and Lake Turkan, the ancient city of Lamu and the sacred Kayak forests of the Mijikenda. Other places of interest are the Maasai warrior, the Swahili culture, the safaris, the other nature parks, the Kisite marine park, the big five wildlife, the lakes, the Lamu archipelago and the island of Matondoni.
