Mozambique is a country in Southeast Africa with 21 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. The republic has a coastline along the Strait of Mozambique. In the middle there are steppe areas and savannah areas. Lowland stretches from the coastal plains to the interior. On the coast there are sandy beaches, coral reefs, bays and islands. Furthermore, deltas with cliffs and mangrove swamps and areas with dunes and lagoons. Mountains are located north and south. There is a savannah climate with a rainy season. The capital Maputo has 1.2 million inhabitants. Sights include the National Museum, the Jardim Tunduru Botanical Garden, the fort, the Nucléo de Arte, the Mercado Municipal market and the train station at Praca dos Trabalhadores designed by Gustave Eiffel. Other important cities are Xai-Xai, the ancient colonial city of Inhambane, Beira, Matola, Pemba and Quelimane. The island of Mozambique is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Other places of interest are the other paradisiacal islands, the flora and fauna, the many game reserves, the saltwater lake Wenela, Tofo and Morungulo.
