Sao Tome and Principe is a country with 206,000 inhabitants. The republic consists of four islands. The two largest islands are São Tomé and Príncipe. The archipelago is located approximately 300 kilometers west of Gabon, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Guinea. The islands have a volcanic origin. They consist of many mountains with fast-flowing rivers, jungles and lush forest. It is flatter around it and there are many plantations and mangrove forests. The coast itself consists of paradise palm beaches, a blue-green sea and a rich underwater life. There is a warm and humid tropical climate. Capital city Sao Tome consists of 53,000 inhabitants. Places of interest include the colonial houses and the presidential palace. Other cities are Trinidade, Alto Douro, Bombon, Ponta Furada and Santo António. Sights on the islands are the highest mountain, the Pico de Sao Tome, the Obo National Park, the islet of Rolas, the sea turtle beach of Praia Jalé, the museum São Sebastiaõ and the old plantation Sundi.
