Somalia is a country in East Africa with 7.2 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya. The republic is located in the Horn of Africa and has a coastline along the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. Somalia consists of three parts: Somalia, Puntland and Somaliland. The Karkaar Mountains are located in the north. In the south and west there are dry and hilly areas. The rest of Somalia consists of dry savannas. Only along the Giuba (central) and Scebeli (southern) rivers are fertile areas. Somalia has a long coastline with long sandy beaches and coral reefs. There is a desert climate. The capital Mogadishu has 1.2 million inhabitants. The sights are: the Garesa palace, the Fakr ad-Din mosque, the national museum and the Gezira beach. Other cities are Berbera, Borama, Burao, Eyl, Hargeisa, Kismayo and Marka. Sights in Somalia include the town of Baidoa, the coastal town of Chismaio, the national parks and the many mosques and forts.
