Uganda is a country in East Africa with 31.4 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Tanzania, Rwanda, the democratic republic of Congo, Sudan and Kenya. The most striking is Lake Victoria in the south. Uganda is located on the East African plateau and consists mainly of plateaus, mountains, volcanic hills, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, swamps and rainforests. There is a tropical climate. The capital Kampala has 1.2 million inhabitants. Places of interest include the Tulifanya art gallery, the Kabakas Lake, the Namirembe cathedral and the Bahia temple. Other cities are Arua, Busia, Entebbe, Fort Portal, Jinja, Kisoro, Lira, Mbale, Mbarara, Moroto and Soroti. The Unesco World Heritage Site lists the tombs of the kings of Uganda in Kasubi and the national parks of Bwindi Impenetrable and Rwenzori Mountains. Other places of interest are the flora and fauna, the Mgahinga gorilla park, the island of Bukasa, the Rwenzori Mountains, the crater lakes and Fort Portal.
